Ashley started taking Yoga classes in 2010 at the Sattva School of Yoga in Edmonton, Canada. After experiencing several devastating family losses, a friend recommended she try yoga to address her grief. She agreed to give yoga a try, and was completely shocked by the profound effects the practice had on her mental & physical wellbeing. The beginning of her education in Yoga was set, and she continues to be amazed by everything this healing practice has to offer.
Ashley teaches Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Sattva, Hatha, Yin & Sattva Restorative Yoga. She has a Genetics degree specializing in Cancer, with a minor in Psychology and Anatomy. Her classes are strong, supportive and inclusive. She places a great deal of emphasis on connecting deep within your own body, using the breath as a tool to distract the mind, and fascial tissue lines of awareness to understand postures on a very personal level, all to tap into your inner potential. She is forever grateful to her first, and main teacher, Rameen Peyrow of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
My classes are strong & dynamic. The main emphasis is on breathing and finding the ability to leave the outside world as it is whilst practising; using movement and breath to gain a deeper connection to your true Self. I draw inspiration from all of my incredible teachers: Rameen Peyrow & Jade Ponech (Sattva Yoga), Keshava Murthy, Hamish Hendry, Louise Newton & Corrie Ananda Preece (Astanga Yoga), Emi Tull, Mark Kan, Ambra Vallo & Fabio Filippi (Dharma Yoga). I am honoured to have the opportunity to learn from these inspiring souls.
Whether you are looking to sweat, have fun, find stillness and a link to spirituality, there is something for you here! I bring balance to my classes in an attempt to incorporate everyones needs. Beginners to advanced practitioners, all are welcome!
Sattva yoga is a dynamic Hatha-Raja yoga practise, home grown from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada by its founder, and my main teacher, Rameen Peyrow. Combining physical asana practise with both breathing (pranayama) and meditation allows the practitioner to tap in to their inspired potential and create a focal point for further spiritual exploration. When we ask “who am I? and why am I here?” we create space to facilitate a deeper understanding of ourselves and our connection with our environment. Sequences change monthly.
Astanga yoga is a physically demanding set sequence of postures that is synchronized with the breath, founded by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. A transformative & healing moving meditation through repetition and surrender.
Vinyasa flow is dynamic & fast paced. Starting with Sun Salutations, expect to move continuously throughout the class, and have minor sequence changes each session. My inspiration for Vinyasa teaching is influenced by Sattva, Astanga, Dharma and Rocket Yoga.
Restorative & Yin yoga are very slow paced types of yoga, poses are held for 1-10 minutes to allow the practitioner ample time to connect the breath with deeper openings of facial tissue and muscles. Props are used extensively, expect to move through 5-8 poses per class.
